What is Case Management

What is Case Management?

Case Management services are offered by DIG to assist our clients with complicated treatment issues. Case Managers are not 12-step sponsors. Many people who are new to this industry think that they are the same. The truth is that a 12-step sponsor and a Case Manager have two very different functions. A 12-step sponsor’s only function should be to steer a person through the 12 steps of a person’s choice.

Case Managers help a client to co-ordinate multiple facets of treatment such as:

  1. Outpatient treatment
  2. Sober living house
  3. Medical appointments
  4. Psychological appointments
  5. Psychiatric appointments
  6. Dental appointments
  7. Legal issues including court and probation involvement etc;

then a personal Case Manager will help the client to meet those demands. Case Managers meet with their clients regularly to help the client keep track of all of the client’s commitments including treatment progress. Case Managers are empowered by their client’s family members to advocate for the client in conflict resolutions within the client’s treatment team and society in general. Make no mistake, this is a vital piece of a successful recovery puzzle.

DIG’s Case Managers are experienced treatment professionals. Their purpose is to help their clients keep track of their client’s treatment commitments and progress. As part of DIG’s full range of services, our Case Managers are there to help our clients with quality of treatment issues. Like Recovery Coaches, Case Managers do not need to be gender specific.

Client Transportation/Sober Escort

What is Client Transportation?

For some obvious reasons (and some not so obvious), transportation can be a huge hurdle in the life of a newly abstinent person. Whether the client is interested in maintaining an ongoing recovery or just needs to stay abstinent for a period of time to avoid an alcohol intervention, getting from A to B can be a real hassle. This is where the Sober Companion service can help.

Recovery Coaching

What is a Recovery Coach?

A Recovery Coach is not a Sober Companion. He or she does not accompany you in a guardian service. A coach may accompany you to your workplace for a workplace evaluation or have a family meeting to see firsthand the family interactions. Coaches are professionals who consult with their clients to assess where the client is in his or her recovery. The coach helps the client to determine goals in the various domains of life:

  • intrapersonal
  • interpersonal
  • familial
  • relational
  • educational
  • occupational
  • life skills
  • physical fitness
  • health, nutrition
  • spiritual and recovery.

Once goals have been determined, then strategies are developed to meet those goals. A timeline is planned and homework is given. A check-in schedule is set up for the homework, to evaluate progress and to fine tune the strategies.

All of DIG’s Recovery Coaches are trained professionals with years of experience in their field as well as long term personal recovery. Their purpose is to help their clients take the clients life to the next level. When a client has spent the time and money necessary to get a life back then it is time to work on the quality of that life. As part of DIG’s full range of services, our coaches are there to help our clients with those quality of life issues. Coaches can be but unlike Sober Companions do not need to be gender specific.

Individual Therapies

At DIG, we realize that sometimes the addict needs a psychologist for individual therapy, a psychiatrist for psychiatric medical management or both. We maintain excellent relationships with various psychologists and psychiatrists and would be happy to assist a client in an appropriate referral.

Call today and we will do our best to help your family to heal.
