Introduction

PreventionPLUSWellness offers motivational interventions which are easily implemented by health, education, medical, and fitness professionals and parents in clinics, schools, colleges, communities and homes. We also develop, evaluate and implement positive image and behavior programs tailored to the behavioral needs of specific youth target populations, and concerns of professionals and parents. About the Founder of PreventionPLUSWellness

Chudley Edward Werch, PhD, Founder and President of PreventionPLUSWellness

Dr. Werch has successfully developed all of the PreventionPLUSWellness programs.

Dr. Werch is President, Founder and Research Director at PreventionPLUSWellness (formerly Brief Programs for Health). Dr. Werch has 30 years experience translating science into effective yet practical programs, materials and services for organizations, communities and families who are passionate about improving the physical and mental health and positive development of youth and young adults. He is dedicated to providing youth service providers, peers and parents with skills and tools to enhance the whole health and personal improvement of young people.

Chudley’s professional experience includes receiving a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a major in Curriculum and Instruction and a minor in Educational Psychology. He has conducted substance abuse and health behavior research at the University of Arkansas, University of North Florida, University of Florida, and Mayo Clinic. In addition, he created the Behavior-Image Model (BIM), a theoretical framework for planning interventions designed to improve the physical and mental health of young people by targeting their positive images and multiple behavior goal setting skills.

Chudley developed and evaluated four Evidence-Based Programs (EBPs), and two positive image multiple behavior EBPs listed on four evidence-based databases, including SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP), and Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development. He has published over 115 scientific and professional articles. He has also received nearly $16 million in funding for conducting prevention and health intervention research. Dr. Werch is a designated Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and Fellow and Past President of the American Academy of Health Behavior.
